Name of guest:
Kim Walsh Phillips is an award winning speaker, author, strategist and CEO of IO Creative Group, that’s a direct response social media agency.
Kim was used to be an introvert in her childhood so her advice for shy, introverts for attending their first networking event is that, people love to talk about themselves. Always go with some Qs that you can talk others about them and you can start in a really great way.
If it’s a conference, and people there are out of town, so even asking about their whereabouts or from where they belong first can give a boost to a starting conversation. Just try to get to know them personally and then one can ask about their company.
This starting conversation can give little nuggets of info which can lead to a more lengthy conversation. So one has to stop worrying about that how can they start a conversation and whether they will be accepted in the process, instead one should more focus on the other person. This will make others feel more important.
Kim’s marketing has a sharp focus on Return on Investment (ROI). According to Kim in the early years of her business she couldn’t measure her business success, so she discovered later that direct response marketing was the trick.
Direct response marketing basically shows everything you could do to measure and track your business. Kim’s idea of direct response marketing is based on a question that, what is a customer worth to you and how much do you want to spend on getting them.
So after seeing the value of a customer for 6 months, one can say that they can spend 2 month worth on the customer to get the profit. That is beneficial because you know beforehand that you’re going to get profit after spending something on that customer.
Track Your Results
According to her there’s always a way to track your marketing results. In the first years of her business, clients would cut her company off because they were not able to give them tracking results. But after she figured out how it’s done, they used to send weekly track reports on how much money has been spent on media, Ads, marketing and etc.
When one can send their client a Monthly Net Profit Report they client will never end the contract. On how to use different social platforms in one’s marketing strategy Kim’s advice is to go narrow and deep niche while targeting your customers, and also to do re-purposing.
She gives a real life example of content marketing on how to repurpose your content for marketing and gain more traffic for your site. She also gives the example of her ‘FB sales funnel’ course, for why one should always take a start to start something new. No one can have results until they start, only planning and thinking wouldn’t take anyone anywhere. According to her one should always be prepared for anything.
Her company has a social media marketing formula of MOM. Social media should be a magnet for your audience, the more audience on your social media means the more customers you’ll have. You have to be magnetic for your perfect prospects. The value you give to your clients, they have a moral obligation to pay you for what you’ve been giving them. But there will always be people who will complain or will unsubscribe.
Always remember that if they are not in your customer list, and you do not have to spend money on them.
Kim’s belief is that every business has a value and everyone shares their business value with the world, and everyone needs to get paid for that value. To her success is fulfilling your higher purpose.
